Mexican Vanilla Extract

We are farmers of cacao in Tabasco, México. We work closely with three different communities of small farmers and ferment and process our cacao beans and nibs for the North American market.

We also have vanilla beans from small farmers cooperatives and other seeds like allspice upon request.

We believe that farmers are often trapped between a consolidated global agro-chemical inputs chain and a consolidated global commodity distribution chain. How to overcome this? We are working on two different paths:

Short Circuits lead to a higher price. Looking for niche markets and opportunities helps the farmers get a better value for their work, but are hard to reach for a small individual producer. In Agrofloresta, we link farmers to manufacturers and consumers with fewer steps.

Sustainable Inputs are required to break the big agrochemical chain. In Agrofloresta we improve soil microbiology with the help of the rainforest microbiome, we manage pest and diseases with harmless organic approved methods and we improve soil fertility through solid and liquid composts made with local residues.

Our nibs are carefully made from our organic cacao beans which are dried after harvesting, then fermented and cracked to produce these small, delicious dark bits.
