Mecca Grade is an estate malthouse located on 1,000 irrigated acres in Oregon. Our location is in the rain shadow of the Cascades which provides hot, dry days and cool nights perfect for growing specialty seed and grain. Much like a vineyards’ location determine the character of its grape varietals, our grains are unique due to their uniform growth within a 2-mile radius of the malthouse. As such, our malts are truly unlike anything else available. Inspired by tradition and driven by our uncompromising spirit, we’ve innovated an entirely new process for creating Mecca Grade’s line of artisan malts. Combining time-honored methods with modern technology, we produce the most flavorful malts available via a process we call “Mechanical Floor-Malting.” This one-of-a-kind machine of our own invention with shallow grain beds in perpetual motion allow us to soak, stir, and kiln our grains to perfection; delivering malts of unrivaled consistency and bursting with character.
