Two-row barley is drum-roasted in small batches to ensure a toasty, biscuity malt perfect for ales and lagers. You’ll taste the New York terroir in its clean, nutty taste reminiscent of baking bread.

Batavia Biscuit Malt

Conventional (Non-GMO)

A lager-style base malt in the German tradition. It contributes a pale-straw color and adds mild, malty, sweet flavor with gentle notes of honey.

Excelsior Pilsner Malt

This medium roast malt is drum-roasted for a toasty and somewhat tangy flavor with an undercurrent of bran flakes and sourdough. Plump two-rowed barley malt imparts a full malt taste and aroma to finished beer.

Saranac Special Roast Malt

A smooth and sweet drum-roasted two-rowed barley malt with a clean dry finish. Delivers a nutty, graham cracker taste and color contribution from light brown to orange. Excellent for use in porters.

Saranac Extra Special Roast Malt

Warthog Wheat is an heirloom variety grown in Central New York. Use as part or all of the base malt for wheat beer. Offers a distinctive New York terroir with wheat flour flavor. Improves head retention in any beer. Our wheat malt performs well in both brewing and distilling applications.

Hard Red Wheat Malt

Danko Rye malt lends a spicy note to traditional rye beer or in smaller amounts imparts a complexity to light- and medium-colored and flavored beers. Used in brewing and single malt whiskey.

Hudson River Danko Rye Malt

Our two-row barley base malts start out clean and sweet with a mildly malty finish.

Erie Canal Pale Malt

We kiln-roast our malt to make it caramelized to perfection. Full on the palate with a lusty malt aroma, add it for nutty flavor characteristics and a deeper color.

Catskill Crystal Malt

This European-style 2-row barley malt has a clean, malty flavor that is slightly sweeter than our traditional base malt. Lends a golden amber hue and has a subtle but unmistakable New York terroir unique to our malt.

For New York Craft Malt, pneumatic malting provides the perfect environment - free from the vagaries of day-to-day atmospheric and microbial changes common to traditional floor malted products. Beer tastes better when it’s local. It tastes better when it’s been touched by callused hands that grew the grain, malted it, shoveled it into sacks and delivered it to other hands, also likely rough and callused, that turn it into delicious beer and spirits.
