Lion’s Mane is known as a brain-boosting mushroom. Its neuroprotective effects compounds are speculated to shield the brain from normal aging cognitive decline, support healthy memory function, focus, support a positive mood, and relieve stress.

Lion’s Mane has a dense texture that is great as a meat substitute. These mushrooms are very absorbent and can be marinated to give it just about any flavor profile, from meaty to a delicate, seafood-like flavor. So, it is also ideal as a shellfish substitute.

Cordyceps are one of the newest functional mushroom products we are growing at Parasol Mycology. They have been used for centuries for their natural ability to fight free radicals and inflammation as well as their adaptogenic properties.

There are many varieties of oyster mushrooms; generally they have a mild, woody, earthy flavor. They can be slightly sweet, with a hint of anise, and they also have an umami flavor. Their name comes from their flat, round shape, which resembles an oyster. When prepared properly, an oyster mushroom is prized for their tender meaty texture that has been compared to chicken.

The functional reishi mushroom has been used to help enhance the immune system, reduce stress, improve sleep, and lessen fatigue. It is one of several medicinal mushrooms that have been used primarily in Asian countries for treatments and its adaptognic properties.
