Maltitol is a sugar alcohol (polyol) used as a sugar substitute having 75–90% of the sweetness of sucrose (table sugar) and nearly identical properties, except for browning. It is used to replace table sugar because it is half as energetic, does not promote tooth decay, and has a somewhat lesser effect on blood glucose.

Monk fruit sweetener is a sugar substitute that is 150 to 250 times sweeter than sucrose and has zero calories and carbohydrates.

Allulose is exempt from inclusion on the “Added” or “Total Sugars” declaration on a nutritional label. Its caloric value was also determined to be only 0.4 kcal/g, making it 90% lower in calories than sucrose. Allulose has a clean taste profile and is stable in both high and low temperatures.
